Flashback

Flashing back to one of last week's lovely long walks. The day of the lambs. I parked in the Staffordshire village of Warslow before setting off on a twelve mile circular walk. It took me up hill and down dale, to Hulme End, The Manifold Valley and Ecton Hill. And these were just some of the sights I saw along the way:-
By the bridge over the Manifold at Hulme End
Stone dragon by the triangulation pillar on Revidge Moor
St Lawrence's Church in Warslow
Ruined barn at Clough Head
Inquisitive cow at Clough Head
The Powder House, Ecton Hill - former copper mine facility
As the sign says...

  1. From those wonderful photos, it appears your walk was a very peaceful one through a beautiful area.

Obviously, though, you do cause some interest during your strolls. First it was the lambs, now that cow has her eye on you. It must have been those shorts!

    1. The cow and I had a conversation about the European Union's agricultural policies.

  2. I like the sign for the farm and the cow peering over the wall. The triangulation pillar looks like one of the pylons from "Land Of The Lost." (Was that TV show popular in the UK way back when?)

    1. Until you mentioned it, I had never heard of "Land of the Lost". That's what America will be if Trump becomes President.

  3. You have such a beautiful country to walk in! Lucky you. I would have petted that cow, she's cute.

    1. I would have milked her. She was the only cow in the field.

  4. Hope you had your running shoes on YP. - that cow doesn't look all that friendly...not sure I would have petted it. Jennifer is made of sterner stuff than me !
    Lovely photos, as always.

    1. You could have ridden Old Buttercup, shouting "Yeehah!". I would have loved to snap a picture of that CG.

  5. I'm not sure what you'll make of this YP. I was driving down to the supermarket this morning, and passed a gentleman of "mature" years, wearing his Panama hat, polo shirt, with sleeveless gilet over, just below the knee shorts, socks, and shoes. When I saw him (from the back) - he looked such a fashion statement that my first thought was "Yorkie". It was the shorts that did it !
I'm now going to hide for a wee while....

    1. It could have been me but Yorkshiremen never wear Panama hats. We only wear flatcaps and we like to spit on the pavement every five yards. We also say "Ee by gum" quite a lot. Is a "wee while" when a lady visits a lavatory for a number one?

    2. Could be, but I think I'll need to hide somewhere a bit more secure !

  6. 12 miles is a super walk but when you have interesting scenery it's that much better. You stop and see stuff and take a break.

  7. Great pictures, all of them - but you can probably easily guess which one is my favourite of this lot.
